I agree with you, it is the intention. It's like a fortune in a cookie or horoscope. If it prompts you into something positive, there is no harm. If it becomes a completely superstitious thing, then that is obsession. But I look at it as synchronicity and my inner self saying, "hey yeah, you get it, keep going!"
